Here I stand looking out over everyone watching an artist perform. To some people it may be the band that has been a part of every breakup or every success in their life.
To others it may be their first time hearing the lyrics that penetrate their ears as they are pushed against a strangers warm body in hopes they can make it a few steps further.
Music has a profound effect on our psyche. We have all experienced this incredible effect that music can have on our state of mind.
Music can exhilarate us and calm us down. It can make us happy or it can cause tears to run down our face - as it quickly takes us back in time to a moment that is so easily relived by only a few notes of a song.
Music helps us give expression to feelings that words cannot explain.
“Music is the language of emotion.”
It doesn't matter what language you speak, music bypasses barriers & connects to our hearts.
So as I sit here looking at myself in this photo, look out at the crowd - I recognize that all of these people from different parts of the world, different religions, different races, different statuses, and different beliefs - all put down their "swords" for the night and come together for their love of music.
With all the violence and hate in the world sometimes it is easy to overlook all of the good. But at the end of the day the power is within each of us to make the changes in how we treat each other & how we want our life's to impact not only our loved ones - but also every new face we see every day.
